About our CWMA

Focusing on rangeland health and wildlife improvement

The Squarrose Cooperative Weed Management Area (CWMA) has dedicated resources for over 20 years in the Tintic pasture and Tintic Junction areas to control Squarrose Knapweed and Dyers Woad. This geographic location is thought to be the starting point for the spread of Squarrose Knapweed for Juab, Utah, and Tooele Counties. Within this focus area many State and Federal agencies along with private landowners have focused on eliminating noxious weeds by incorporating a more long term plan for rangeland health, wildlife improvement, and fire prevention. The Squarrose CWMA’s  objective is to continue this work by fostering continuing programs with the ISM, Watershed Restoration Initiative (WRI), BLM, and Private Land Owners in a five-mile radius from Tintic Junction which is the heart of the Squarrose Knapweed infestation.
